News from Harkaway Lodge Stud
We have been very busy covering mares, foaling down mares and doing the odd show, amongst all the other day to day duties! We only had the one Highland foal this season, a lovely yellow dun filly out of Stanway Shona, Hazel, who is a full sister to Lavender and Lace. We also had 2 Fjord foals, both fillies (fillies all round!!) and both are well after the disasters of last year. It was difficult to cover the mares last season whilst I was pregnant let alone the handling when they are weaned!
We have covered all of the mares now, except for the 2 Fjord mares with foals at foot. HL Symphony is in foal to HL Glengarry, HL Callista and HL Lace are in foal to HL McMillan. HL Amber & Stanway Shona are in foal to Barrymoor Mercury. HL Astra who has been sold to Sarah McAndrew in ACT has also been covered by Glengarry but at the time of writing has not yet been preg tested. We also have 3 Fjord mares all in foal to our Fjord stallion with the 2 brood mares yet to be covered. So it will be a very busy season next year.
HL Rannoch, the yearling colt by Fyfedene has been in and had some handling. He is now out again with the bboys and enjoying the green grass after good rains.
