SPUD was bred by Anna Thirkell and was very successful in Buckskin classes. He was sold to Rae Madden in February 2000 and has done very well in dressage classes. At the HRCAV Top Teams Trophy Dressage Championships in 2004 he was 3^rd in Level 3 and in 2005 was 6^TH & 7^TH and also won the Best Performed Partbred Highland Pony and the Best Performed Buckskin for the National Buckskin Society.

He has also won the Partbred Highland Pony Hi Point award for the last 5 years. In 2002 he got an encouragement award from the National Buckskin Society. In 2003 and 2004 he was Reserve NBS Hi Point Performance Horse and in 2005 he won the NBS Hi Point Performance Horse as well as achieving his Gold medallions for 1000 points.

He is a lovely affectionate horse to handle and ride, enjoys going on trail rides and around the roads as well as dressage lessons and occasional cross country jumping and show jumping. He ha also done well in Handy Mount competitions.
