Rossi has been a treasured part of our family since he was 18 months old. He was a gangly youngster with a large head which he soon grew into, filling out beautifully on the good Gippsland grass. After some initial battle of wills during the breaking in period at age 4, this very clever pony has really blossomed into a lovely riding pony for us. Also being ridden by our 11yo daughter, his gentle nature has really made owning a Highland VERY worthwhile. He has taught us alot and taken a novice equine family further than they had been before. He hand his paddock pal, Opal, the Shetland who is the boss; are like our extra children, with their trusting nature, cheeky personalities and always wanting to be with you and see what is going on.
Rossi is well known in our local area as he attends Pony Club, Adult Riding Club, Shows etc. He has been used to lead off for trail rides, ridden on roads and loves to jump. His only hiccup is that he will not go into water, ie pudles and creeks, but we can't all be perfect! He is known for his placid nature and slow relaxed pace. Comments are made about his cute hairy ears and face having been dipped in chocolate!
This versatile, sweet natured pony has really converted our entire family, and our daughter is now saving all her birthday and Christmas money to buy her own Highland pony because she is not having Mum's! We can only hope we find another Highland (maybe not so big) as tempered as Rossi for our daughter so she too can go out and show off this great breed. We enjoy being part of the Highland Pony Society and appreciate the support, enthusiasm and encouragement we get from other members and breeders.
